Carlo Rovelli is a theoretical physicist working on loop quantum gravity
and the author of Seven Brief Lessons on Physics, The Order of Time and
Helgoland.
James opens by trying to compress Rovelli's whole position into one
sentence: nothing exists except in relation to something else. Rovelli's
answer — "that's a very good summary, you got the core" — and then an
hour on what it costs you.
No absolute truth. No shared "now" between galaxies. No solid objects
except for a short while. No soul separate from the brain. And at the
end, an argument that your choices are still yours anyway.
